Welcome to Methlick Cricket Club and the 2012 season.

'During the course of 2011 we consolidated our positions in Grades 2 and 3, having thought for a brief moment we were going to get promotion!. We welcome new members to the club again this year and our junior coaching moved to new levels with coaching being done in local schools for the second year. We are set to repeat the coaching this year as well run the schools competition for the third year. Thanks to the committee from last year and all their hard work that keeps the club going and able to invest in its future.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors and the wider support of people in the community and club who  are not on the committee.
This is a cricket club that welcomes all, from experienced cricketers to first timers and anyone in between from both genders. We have an active youth policy and many youngsters now play in the senior teams. The club is led by its members and a management committee who work very hard for the development and future of the club.
2012 is an exciting year for us, as we strive once again to be promoted to Grade 1 for the first time. We have worked hard over the winter to improve the wicket again and it looks and feels fantastic for the start of the 2012 season on 28th April 2012. look forward to playing and meeting all of you through the course of the year.’

Weather

The first games of the season were to have taken place on Saturday, the day proved to be both a sunny and dry one unfortunately over the last few weeks the weather has had a considerable impact on a number of grounds throughout Aberdeenshire, including Lairds. This has ment both teams were unable to play their first grades match of the season, at Lairds and at Countesswells, where our 2nd team had their first fixture away to the Gordonians 2nd's.

Saturday 12th of May
1st XI Methlick vs Arrowdawn Gordonians - Countesswells 1

After last weekend’s disappointing opener against Banchory, MCC looked for big improvements in their visit to Counteswells. An improvement in the weather and a beautiful, straw-coloured batting track implied plenty of runs were there for the taking, and the decision to put Methlick in to bat would not have been the usual foregone conclusion. Saturday 5th of May

1st XI Methlick vs Banchory - Burnett Park

Methlick travelled to Burnett Park for the first game of the season after last weeks washout and were looking for an emphatic victory to start off this year’s push for promotion to Grade 1. Overhead conditions were sunny but dampness prevailed underfoot and Banchory’s captain, Wilkinson, had little hesitation putting Methlick in to bat. Conti:-
